Jesús Barajas had an impressive outing today. He hurled the Durham Invaders to a shutout victory over the Laredo Centennials, yielding 1 hit, fanning 8, and walking 2. "He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," the Laredo skipper said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do, and we hit some balls at guys."
Barajas is just breaking into the pros. So far this season he has a record of 13 wins and 7 losses and a 2.60 ERA. He has appeared in 22 games and struck out 132 in 176.2 innings.

 | Friday, August 10th, 2029: Campos Dazzles Royersford in Shutout Performance
"That's one thing that has never changed in this game--pitching can control hitting," the Centennials manager told reporters after today's game. The Artillery ran into a buzzsaw as Leo Campos cut them down to size with a 5-hit shutout. His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game whitewash the Laredo hurler doled out 2 free passes and struck out 4. In the postgame press conference, his catcher said, "Leo goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be."
Campos also got some praise from the Royersford manager. "He really kept us in check with that heavy sinker. It has some run on it . . . as well as some down to it. We took some pathetic swings."
In his first shot in the bigs, Campos has logged a 10-2 season. He has started 13 games and given up 1.93 in 102.2 innings. He has also struck out 61 batters and walked 34 others.

Geoffrey Edwards really sizzled at the plate in today's game. The Buffalo left fielder blistered the Laredo Centennials for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
G. Edwards singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Presently hitting at a .309 pace, Edwards has collected 23 two-baggers and 4 triples, rapped 2 out of the ballpark, scored 37 runs, and produced 25 RBI. He has also been walked 20 times and run up 2 thefts on the basepaths this season. In 357 plate appearances over 82 games, he has banged out 102 hits.
