Alphonso Giddings of the Santa Ana Coyotes gave them a steady diet of fine pitches, and he walked off the mound with a complete game shutout. He blanked them on 2 hits and struck out 3 while walking 1. The Santa Ana manager said, "Giddings was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement, he has that good sinker, and he doesn't give in to the hitters."

Jerome Whitchurch was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Hanover Hares with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a shutout. In the postgame comments, the Hanover skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming, and you still grounded out--and then he threw it even slower."
The North Haverbrook hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up 1 walks, and surrendered 4 base hits in his route-going effort. Whitchurch told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."
