| Breaking News | | Monday, July 30th, 2029: Nace Silences Swingers, Shuts out Corpus Christi The Hanover manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command was not that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
He was talking about John Nace, who had just hurled a fine 2-hit shutout over the Corpus Christi Fire Ants. He had 5 strikeouts and 2 bases on balls in the Hanover Hares victory.
"An outstanding job," the Corpus Christi manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
So far in 2029, Nace has garnered 1 win and 2 losses over 6 games. He has recorded an ERA of 3.43 and struck out 16 batters, while pitching 42 innings. | | Tuesday, July 24th, 2029: Alphonso Giddings Shuts Out Hanover in Sterling Mound Performance Hopping fastballs and sharp sinkers mixed in with a few slow curves sunk the Hanover Hares today. Alphonso Giddings of the Santa Ana Coyotes gave them a steady diet of fine pitches, and he walked off the mound with a complete game shutout. He blanked them on 2 hits and struck out 3 while walking 1. The Santa Ana manager said, "Giddings was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement, he has that good sinker, and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
Giddings is the type of guy who could go on to big things if he keeps putting up numbers like this. So far this season he has totaled 23 starts, 177.1 innings, 38 strikeouts and 61 bases on balls. His record is 16 wins and 4 losses with a 2.59 ERA. Opposing hitters have hit only .189 against him. | | Wednesday, July 18th, 2029: Monorails(SI) Whitewash Hares, Whitchurch Winner Jerome Whitchurch was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Hanover Hares with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a shutout. In the postgame comments, the Hanover skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming, and you still grounded out--and then he threw it even slower."
The North Haverbrook hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up 1 walks, and surrendered 4 base hits in his route-going effort. Whitchurch told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."
Whitchurch appears to be unfazed by the hype surrounding him. 2029 has been a good one for him. This young 25-year-old has made 22 starts, thrown 166.1 innings, fanned 123 batters and walked 35. His record is 12 wins and 8 losses with a 2.06 ERA, and opposing hitters have compiled a .196 against him. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 36-84, .300 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 54.0 GB | | Record at home | 23-37, .383 PCT | | Record on the road | 13-47, .217 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 9-15, .375 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 18-32, .360 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 17-40, .298 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 19-44, .302 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 7-21, .250 PCT | | Record in May | 9-20, .310 PCT | | Record in June | 7-18, .280 PCT | | Record in July | 9-20, .310 PCT | | Record in August | 4-5, .444 PCT |
