Such is the case with Robert Shepler, a 21-year-old starter for the Minneapolis Sea Dogs. In July he tossed 54.1 innings, racked up a 0.50 ERA, dished out 50 Ks, and registered a 5-0 record.
To date in 2029 Robert Shepler has fanned 145 in 183 innings and collected a 14-5 record with a 2.31 ERA. | | Thursday, July 26th, 2029: Shepler Razor-Sharp, Shuts out King City "Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage. Well, good pitching also beats bad batting. In his postgame interview the King City manager said, "Robert Shepler made us look real bad today. He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all four pitches. Everything was sinking." Shepler struck out 10, walked 4, and allowed only 3 hits as the Minneapolis Sea Dogs whitewashed the King City Scrappers.
Shepler has worked hard to get to here. This year the rookie hurler has compiled a 14-5 mark, 2.34 ERA, made 22 starting appearances, fanned 136 batters, issued 52 bases on balls, tossed 173 innings and held the opposition to a .169 batting average. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Roy Schanowski | Torn Labrum (Shoulder) | 6-7 weeks | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 86-34, .717 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 48-12, .800 PCT | | Record on the road | 38-22, .633 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 11-1, .917 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 23-11, .676 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 31-9, .775 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 55-25, .688 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 9-1, .900 PCT | | Record in April | 20-8, .714 PCT | | Record in May | 18-11, .621 PCT | | Record in June | 18-7, .720 PCT | | Record in July | 22-7, .759 PCT | | Record in August | 8-1, .889 PCT |
